As part of our topic ‘Down on the Farm,’ we visited Ouseburn Farm today with the children from our morning nursery.
We took part in two workshops – the first of which involved us herding and feeding the sheep and their lambs; scattering food for the chickens; feeding the resident cows and finally feeding the pigs. Our second workshop enabled us to meet and handle some baby chicks; stroke a gecko (and discover that they lick their eyes to keep them clean because they have no eyelids); meet and hold a snake; touch a bearded dragon (who was trying to escape) and stroke a tortoise!
After lunch, we had some free time to explore the farm in small groups and have a go on the ride-on tractors. We also had a look in their reptile house and saw some terrapins, more snakes and a tortoise.
We hope you like the photographs that we took throughout the day!
