We’ve been studying WW1 poetry for some time, learning about similes and metaphors through Wilfred Owen’s ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ and propaganda through Pope’s ‘The Call’. Every year the story takes a more personal turn as we explore the role John Ramsay Robertson played, highlighting how local soldiers supported each other.
Today local historian and collector Fred Bromilow visited us with WW1 artifacts AND the very medals won by Sergeant Robertson when he bravely saved the lives of his Battalion.
We enjoyed holding items used in the trenches and wearing clothes worn by soldiers on the front line. We can not thank Mr. Bromilow enough for visiting and will be sure to invite him again.
