At Carr Hill we aim to provide our pupils with a warm, safe environment where children feel secure and valued as individuals. We believe that teaching and learning should be enjoyable, purposeful and challenging. Through our effective curriculum we aim to equip each child with the key skills they need for life. We aim to develop confident learners, who take ownership of their learning; are proud of their achievements and are well prepared for life in modern Britain. A dedicated and talented staff support the learning of all of our children and they create incredible relationships that aid the love of learning.

Important Dates - SAT's Tests
As you will see from below, our pupils will be tested in more year groups than ever before. This year the school have to report to the DfE on the performance of pupils in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6.
- Year 6 pupils take their Key Stage 2 SATs during the week commencing 11th May 2020;
- Year 6 may possibly be required to complete ‘Science Sampling Tests’, over a two-week period, starting from 8th June 2020;
- THE NEW ‘Year 4 Multiplication Check’ will take place over a three-week period starting from 8th June 2020;
- Years 3, 4 and 5 have their optional SATs during the week commencing 18th May 2020;
- Year 2 pupils have ongoing Key Stage One assessments throughout May 2020;
- Year 1 pupils will complete the Phonics Screening Check during the week commencing 8th June 2020
- Reception pupils will be involved in on-going informal assessment over the course of the year.
Please support your child with any phonics, reading and maths (times tables and basic facts) home learning they are asked to do. It makes such a difference!
Remember that if you are concerned, in anyway, about your child’s learning or you want to know more about how you should or can support your child’s learning just ask!
As there is no authorised absence for holidays taken in term time – we expect all our children to attend school during these weeks unless they are genuinely ill.

Gateshead Council, Northumbria Police and partners have worked together to develop a new Hate Crime strategy to tackle hate incidents in the borough. This was approved by the Community Safety Board in April 2016.
