Following on from our visit to Jarrow Hall, Mr McGill’s class have been lucky enough to make some Anglo-Saxon runes. Where possible, we tried to recreate a rune and its inscription in careful detail – choosing which message it would reflect. Some of us chose words such as ‘joy’ and ‘luck’. Some of us chose words that had more meaning so that they can be worn as a necklace or kept in a safe place at home.
