What a fantastic day our Year 6 children had at SafetyWorks last week. SafetyWorks is an interactive safety centre which provided our children enjoyable learning experiences which enabled them to participate safely in realistic situations which illustrate every day hazards and how to prevent them.

The children met the RNLI and learnt how to call for coastguard, practised throwing a life ring and how to spot dangers in the water.

They met the fire service and learnt how to report a fire.

A police officer showed the children a cell and talked to them about what happens if you get arrested. They talked about the impact of decisions made when you are young and how this can affect future life choices.

There was also a member of the Metro team there who talked about rail safety and accidents that have occurred in the past and how these could have been avoided.

There was a road safety officer there who recapped how to cross a road safely and different hazards to look out for.
