Last week, we welcomed  Steve (Our Primary Link Coordinator) from Grace College to run a boccia session with all of our year One  and Two children.  For many of our children this was their first introduction to the game of Boccia. At Carr Hill we love this sport as it is totally inclusive and allows children of all abilities to take part.
Boccia (pronounced bot-cha) is a Paralympic sport with no Olympic equivalent and is similar to bowls.  It is a target ball sport which tests both muscle control and accuracy.  Originally designed for individuals with severe physical disabilities, the game has branched out to include all disabilities.  Even able-bodied people can play boccia in a social setting as long as you stick to the rules and stay seated during play.
The children had a great session learning the rules of the game of boccia and playing with their classmates.
