We provide a two-course meal each day to all of our children. Reception Class children are urged to stay in school over the lunch break and have a hot meal in our dining area rather than going home for lunch or eating a packed lunch. We believe that the social interaction the children experience whilst they eat together is an important part of a child’s development.
Dinner monies are collected on Monday for the whole of the week. However, if this is not possible, we ask parents to make sure meals are paid for daily. The school does not have a credit system for school meals, and to avoid a build up of unpaid monies the Administration Officer will correspond with parents who owe the school money. Parents can pay online via ParentPay, if you are not already set up to pay this way please contact the school office for your log in details and then log on to www.parentpay.com
If a child is entitled to “means tested” free school meals (as a result of a parents income support arrangements), it is important that the parent completes the relevant form so that the Council can inform the school of this entitlement. This form can be collected from the school office or by clicking on this link and completing it online https://www.gateshead.gov.uk/article/7433/Free-school-meals
When your child tucks into a school meal you can be assured a lot of thought has gone into making it as healthy as possible. We only provide food that is fresh, prepared daily and which provides everything your child needs to feed their bodies and their minds without compromising quality and choice. Therefore, we have put into place the ingredients that make our school meals service one you can trust – from preparation to plate.
Remember, all children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 are entitled to a free school meal everyday, as part of the Government’s “Universal Free School Meals” initiative.
