In Design Technology this half term we have been making bread. First, we researched what different types of bread looked like and we got to taste some different types of bread. These included wholemeal bread, wraps, German rye bread and French brioche.

Next, we used dough to practice our technical skills. We used dough to test our what sort of shapes we would like our own bread to be. The shapes we practise included, spirals, plaits, twists and flowers.

Then, we deigned our own bread, made a shopping list and selected which toppings we would like to add. Everyone’s design was different, which made our bread extra special.

Finally, we followed a recipe to make a Challah bread dough. We used flour, eggs, honey, yeast and water to make our dough . Once the dough had risen, we created our shapes and added our toppings. The toppings we could choose from were, milk chocolate chunks, white chocolate buttons or raisins. We then baked our bread in the oven till it was golden brown and then we got to taste it!
