Year Two Visit the Library
Last week, the children in Year Two enjoyed a visit to the library to selected some books to bring back to school. They also got to enjoy a scavenger hunt and a story telling session with one of the library staff.

In English this week, our Year 2 children have been enjoying the text ‘Handa’s Hen’ by Eileen Browne. We have come across lots of new vocabulary and today we went on a vocabulary hunt to crack a secret code! Some new vocabulary which we have explored included flowering, Bullfrog and Sunbird.
A very special suitcase arrived in Year 5 last week! Inside were lots of interesting black and white illustrations which the children have been studying. In their basic skills lessons, the Year 5 children have been practicing how to find technical language efficiently in dictionaries. They do this as part of their weekly word work in whole class reading.
The children in Year 5 were introduced to their new text in English last week. A mysterious box arrived in the classroom, full of strange and unusual objects. They spent the lesson investigating the objects in the box, and predicting what they thought they knew about the story characters and story plot.
